New Year’s Resolution Classroom Activity

When you think about it, just about any calendar event can lend itself to a classroom activity about writing, from Halloween to spring break to Valentine’s Day.

With that in mind, today on TeachHUB.com, frequent contributing writer Janelle Cox, herself a seasoned educator on the East Coast, takes a look at how New Year’s resolutions can make the perfect subject for a five-paragraph essay. Janelle also notes that revisions and the final draft can all be part of that topical essay.

Janelle sums up her article thusly: “Make sure that you take a few moments of your day with your students to look back on the year that just passed. Talk about the learning goals that they have achieved since the start of the year, and talk about what they are going to achieve by the end of this New Year.”

Do you partake in New Year’s resolutions in your classroom? If so, what kinds of lessons and activities do you do?
