Technology in the Classroom: Best Free Podcast Apps

In our continuing interest in all things technology in the classroom, today we take a look at podcasts -- an audio show that closely resembles a prerecorded and edited radio show.

We begin by look at several types of apps that can help you and your students create podcasts:

Frequent TeachHUB (and TeachHUB Magazine) contributing writer Jordan Catapano, himself a veteran high school English teacher based in the Chicago suburbs, also looks at ways that podcasts can enhance your classes:

  • A Book Report With a Twist
  • Interview an Expert
  • And More!

Jordan closes up his article with this paragraph, entitled Flip the Instruction: “All of these podcast apps are great tools for students to demonstrate their learning, but they’re just as effective for teachers to use as well. Consider creating your own podcasts that supplement or flip your instruction in some way. Your students can carry your voice with them beyond the classroom which might allow you to make your time together within the classroom that much more productive.”

What other apps would you add to this list? How would you use podcasts in your classroom to demonstrate student learning? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
