Introduction

SEO stands for “search engine optimization”. It is the process of getting traffic from the “free", “organic", “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines. SEO is a strategies and tactics to increase the number of visitor to a website by obtaining a high ranking placement in search results.

Benefits of SEO

1. Increased Traffic = Top positions on the search  engine result pages receive a majority of the impressions and clicks, so ranking in the top positions can result in significant traffic increases for your website.

2. ROI : SEO provides track able and quantifiable results, regardless of whether you are an ecommerce or non ecommerce site so there are no qualms when it comes to ROI.

3. Cost effectiveness : SEO is one of the most cost effective marketing strategies because it target users who are actively looking for your products and services online.

4. Increased site usability: SEO consists of rearranging the site's architecture and links to make pages within the website easier to find and navigate. This not only makes it easier for search engines to crawl your site and find pages, but also makes it easier for users to find information on your website as well.

5.Brand Awareness: Users are more likely to trust a brand when it appears in the first places when they search for a term rather than brands that don’t have a good web presence.

Needs of SEO

1.SEO helps to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the chances that the site will be found by the search engine.

2. It is common practice for Internet users to not click through pages and pages of search results, so where a site ranks in a search is essential for directing more traffic towards the site.

Conclusion

Search engine optimization is a hard and tedious job. It can take a large amount of your time. There are too many pieces of the puzzle that you need to piece together. I once read “promoting a site that writers on the web are unlikely to link to it is as deadly as creating a fantastic website no one will see". I think the writer said it all in this simple sentences. There is no use in making the best website in your niche when you are not promoting it.
