Why Online Learning is Perfect for Me

If you’re wondering which one – on-campus or online – might be best for you, here are some reasons why I prefer online.

I’m enrolled in the MBA in Human Resource Management program at Herzing University because it is an ideal way for me to prepare for future opportunities in management. I enjoy being in a leadership role, and I felt that advancing my degree could help me enhance my leadership skills along with my analytical and problem-solving skills.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration and hospitality management, and I’ve also earned my associate degree in resort management. My long-term goal is to own, operate and manage a country club, or become the human resources director for a major hospitality chain or university.

I have experience with both classroom and online learningIf you’re wondering which one – on-campus or online – might be best for you, here are some reasons why I prefer online:

1. Convenience

I completed my associate degree by rushing to a class five days a week. But the classes I took to get my bachelor’s were all online, in the comfort of my own home. Now, as an online student at Herzing, my typical day is pretty simple. I’ll look ahead at my courses for the week, and prioritize my list of assignments based on the due date and how much time I’ll need to complete them. I try to finish all of my assignments by Thursday and Friday each week. On Saturday, I’ll review my work and make any necessary corrections. Sundays are usually my rest days and my time to spend with family.

2. Balance

Online learning allows me to balance working full-time and being a mother. I would much rather be at home with my children than worrying about getting a babysitter, missing one of my kids’ games or not being able to take my family out. I am also very involved in my community. I play competitive tennis all season and my daughters swim, plus I’m involved with various nonprofit organizations. I needed a program that would allow me to be present with my family and keep up with my activities outside of school and work.

3. Less stress

Online learning reduces my stress and anxiety level all around. Imagine finishing work at 5 p.m. and having class at 6 p.m. – now you’re stuck in rush hour traffic and you won’t be home for hours. I tried taking classes on campus, but it just didn’t work for me and my schedule. I find that I’m more relaxed and focused now in my online courses.
